Three African Americans Appointed to New Higher Education Administrative Roles

Braylin Laster was named associate vice president for institutional advancement and resource development at Southwest Tennessee Community College in Memphis. Since 2017, the Little Rock, Arkansas native has served as the director of alumni Affairs for Lane College in Jackson, Tennessee.

Laster received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Lane College in 2017 and an MBA from Bethel University in McKenzie, Tennessee.

Kristina Londy was promoted to director of student success & inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility at MiraCosta College in Oceanside, California. She has been serving as a student services specialist within the Office of Student Life & Leadership at the college. Earlier, she was interim director of the MOSAIC Cross Cultural Center at San Jose State University and assistant dean for the Office of Institutional Diversity at Harvey Mudd College in Claremont, California.

Londy is a graduate of California State University, Dominguez Hills, where she majored in human services. She holds a master’s degree in educational leadership and administration from California State University, Fullerton.

Gillian McKnight-Tutein was appointed chief educational equity officer for the Colorado Department of Higher Education. She has been serving as vice president of student success, and interim provost and vice president of academic affairs at the Community College of Denver.

Dr. McKnight-Tutein holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Florida International University. She earned a master’s degree in human resources development and administration from Barry University in Miami and a doctorate in instructional technology and distance education from Nova Southeastern University.
