Three African Americans in New Administrative Roles in Higher Education

Monique D’Almeida was appointed the Deknatel Curatorial Fellow in Japanese Works on Paper at the Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center on the campus of Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York. She most recently served as the Margaret R. Mainwaring Curatorial Fellow in Prints, Drawings, and Photographs at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Earlier, she was the Freeman Foundation Curatorial Research Fellow at the Minneapolis Institute of Art.

D’Almeida earned a master’s degree from the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa’s department of art and art history where she specialized in Edo period Japanese prints.

Torin Moore was named assistant dean for student affairs for the School of Public Health and Health Sciences at the University of Massachusetts. Moore has served as a student success advisor in the School of Public Health and Health Sciences since 2017. Previously, he spent eight years at Amherst College as their assistant dean of students and director of residential life, Earlier, he was assistant dean of students for enrollment and retention at Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts.

Moore holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in education from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Christian Mills was named director of the Quality Enhancement Plan at Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina. Prior to joining the Benedict family, Mills was a campus and community liaison with Our Money Matters from 2021 to 2023, where she managed their partnerships with HBCUs in North Carolina and South Carolina.

Mills received a bachelor’s degree in women and gender studies from the University of Delaware. She holds a master’s degree in special education from Wilmington University in Delaware.
