A Trio of African Americans Taking on New Administrative Duties at Universities

Curtis Reynolds will join Baylor University in Waco, Texas, as vice president of business and finance and chief financial officer, effective March 1, 2024. He is the vice president for business affairs at the University of Florida. Earlier, Reynolds was vice provost for administration at Miami Dade College.

Reynolds holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He earned an MBA at the University of Alabama.

Shauna Harris was appointed director of the Carolina Women’s Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, effective January 2. She has been serving as assistant dean for student affairs in the School of Education and has worked in higher education and student affairs for more than 15 years. Her scholarship focuses on identity development in biracial women, mid-management supervision, and student engagement on campus.

Dr. Harris earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Clemson University in South Carolina. She holds a master’s degree in higher education and student affairs from the University of South Carolina and a doctorate in counseling and student personnel services from the University of Georgia.

Daren Hubbard will become vice president for information technology and chief information officer at Princeton University on January 3. He has been serving as the top-ranking information technology administrator at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Before joining the staff at Georgia Tech in 2020, Hubbard was chief information officer and associate vice president at Wayne State University in Detroit.

Hubbard holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Michigan. He earned a master of library science degree and an MBA from Wayne State University.
