Angelo Moore Recognized for Advancing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Cancer Research

Angelo Moore, executive director of the Center of Excellence for Integrative Health Disparities and Equity Research at historically Black North Carolina A&T State University, has received the Fredda Bryan National Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Award from the American Cancer Society. He was honored for his contributions to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in cancer research, healthcare, education, and advocacy.

In addition to his role with North Carolina A&T State University, Dr. Moore serves as an adjunct associate professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to his current role, he held numerous leadership positions with the Duke University Cancer Institute, including director of the Office of Health Equity. He has held previous faculty appointments with Wright State University in Ohio and the University of Hawaii.

Outside of his career in higher education, Dr. Moore spent nearly three decades in healthcare leadership roles while serving in the United States Army. He also serves as a journal reviewer for Annals of the American Thoracic Society and Military Medicine.

Dr. Moore is a graduate of historically Black Winston-Salem State University in North Carolina, where he majored in nursing. He holds a master’s degree in nursing from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and a Ph.D. in nursing research from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
