Job Description:
This position is responsible for serving as a core team member of the Brown Evidence-based Practice Center (EPC) funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). Primary responsibilities include participating in ongoing EPC projects including but not limited to comparative effectiveness reviews, technology assessments, horizon scans, evidence reports, topic refinement and topic development activities, and future research needs documents. The position will require successful collaboration with Center staff, Brown clinical collaborators, and external experts and stakeholders. Strong quantitative skills and a solid public health background (or other closely related field) are a must. Advanced training in clinical research, epidemiology, biostatistics, or statistics is highly desirable. Prior experience with AHRQ’s Effective Healthcare EPC program, the Cochrane Collaboration, or another evidence synthesis team is also highly desirable. A Master’s degree in Library Science and/or extensive experience conducting literature identification and searching medical databases for systematic reviews are also highly desirable. Finally, this position will also be responsible for engaging in other various methodological projects of the Center, including a number of software development projects related to systematic reviews and meta-analyses. This position will also be responsible for disseminating advances and findings via manuscripts and conference presentations.
Education and Experience
Master’s degree in related field (Ph.D. preferred) or equivalent combination of education and experience, with considerable laboratory/research experience 5+years
The applicant’s Master’s degree must be in one of the following areas or closely related: Public Health, Medical Librarianship, Kinesiology, Epidemiology, Statistics, Economics/Econometrics, Quantitative Methods.
Job Competencies
♦Strong quantitative skills; advanced statistical programing skills; knowledge of R or Stata is a plus.
♦ Familiarity with AHRQ’s Effective Healthcare EPC program and/or Cochrane Collaboration is highly desirable
♦ A MILS and experience in medical librarianship is highly desirable
♦ Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
♦ Excellent interpersonal skills
♦ Documented excellent writing, presentation and communication skills
♦ Documented experience in proposal writing in an academic environment
