Position Overview:
The Educational Technologist is a member of the MIT xPRO team, reporting to the Senior Educational Technologist and Program Manager of MIT xPRO.
The Educational Technologist partners with MIT staff and faculty to debug, create, deliver technology solutions for MIT xPRO online courses and programs. The Educational Technologist is responsible for developing documentation and FAQs for various xPRO platforms, testing, and evaluating the functionality of said platforms, and working with course teams to implement and debug platform solutions.
The MIT xPRO team works on multiple projects concurrently and adjusts to changing priorities swiftly, so the ideal candidate should be adaptable and willing to shift tasks as necessary, adapt, and learn.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Test Operation of key platform features in the xPRO courseware platform in Production version of platform.
- Test Operation of key platform features in xPRO test candidate servers.
- Assist in the collection of assets for updating documentation for learner and staff facing FAQs.
- Test Internal Platform Learner Grade Reporter Systems.
- Create multiple user aliases to evaluate tools that require multi-learner systems for testing.
- Report findings to xPRO Senior Educational Technologist and Program Manager.
- Evaluate course performance and refine course reruns based on learner, customer, and faculty feedback.
- Create and identify new solutions, technologies, and strategies for adapting all content into the technology platform that delivers MIT xPRO
- Ensure all programs are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget.
- Perform Quality Assurance and beta testing for online platforms and tools.
- Develop and maintain platform documentation.
- Serve as high tier support for issues that develop within the xPRO platform and systems.
- Previous experience with HTML/XHTML systems and documentation.

Supervision Received:
Supervision is provided by the Senior Educational Technologist of MIT xPRO.
Supervision Exercised:
No direct reports. May monitor and coordinate the work of students and temps.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Educational Technology, Instructional Technology, Computer Science, Education, Informational Technology, or related field.
- Minimum 2 years of related experience.
- Proven problem-solving ability, with the ability to adapt to constraints both in learning objectives and technological limitations to deliver exceptional technology experiences.
- Proven experience with the deployment and documentation of educational technology tools and platforms for stakeholders with a wide variety of technical ability.
- Organizational skills, including proactive communication and documentation, to stay within deadlines and other organizational goals.
- Exceptional written communication skills with staff, faculty, SMEs, and stakeholders regardless of the technical ability.
- Adept at identifying and framing problems, setting priorities, and making critical assessments of technological tools for the improvement of courseware and program delivery.
- Experience working with educational content delivered primarily online.
- Prior experience deploying or support various Learning Management Systems such as Canvas, Open edX, Blackboard, and Moodle.
- Prior experience deploying and publishing STEM content using HTML, JavaScript, and Python.
- Previous experience using Zendesk, or other ticketing systems are a plus, but not required.
This is a hybrid position, with in office work required 1 – 3 days/week.
Salary range: $65,000 – $80,000, final salary determined by MIT’s compensation team based on the skills and experience of the person hired.
