POSITION OVERVIEW

The Department of Interdisciplinary Studies at John Jay College of Criminal Justice invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor in the Interdisciplinary Studies Department, effective Fall 2025.

We welcome all applicants with an interdisciplinary background, and are especially interested in scholars who work on justice topics through the lens of the social sciences. Successful candidates will bring a record of fruitful and collegial collaboration, dedication to experiential learning and/or research interests in applied pedagogy, and interest in academic internships and mentoring. Candidates are expected to bring enthusiasm and demonstrated commitment to teaching and to develop and maintain an active research and publication agenda. The successful candidate will co-teach a variety of interdisciplinary, theme-based undergraduate general education courses and will help shape curriculum and future initiatives. They will also share responsibility for committee, program, and department assignments, including administrative, supervisory, and other functions. The successful candidate must also be eager and qualified to work with our diverse student body, and have a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. QUALIFICATIONS

Ph.D. degree in area(s) of expertise or equivalent by September 2025. Teaching and collaborative experience preferred, as well as a research agenda focused on justice topics within the social sciences. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

COMPENSATION

$52,667- $99,532 Salary commensurate with education and credentials.
