Job Description:

The Assistant Director of Alumni Belonging will work closely with the Senior Director of Alumni Belonging to develop and execute strategies that foster a strong sense of belonging and engagement among our 45,000+ alumnae community through the Brown Women’s Network (BWN) and support other affinity group communities. The Assistant Director will work with and support BWN and other Affinity Group volunteer leaders in their endeavors to engage and support their communities. Affinity Groups are alumni communities that form around identities including gender, racial, ethnic, sexual orientation, and disability experiences. These communities offer a way for diverse and historically underserved alumni/alumnae to build lifelong connections with the University community around a shared identity.

The Assistant Director will work with volunteer leaders on developing a tailored outreach strategy for our alumnae community focused on celebrating women’s achievements and amplifying the University’s work to create a more inclusive Brown community and foster a greater sense of belonging for our alumnae. The Assistant Director will steward collaborative engagement and philanthropic initiatives that involve university and Alumni Relations stakeholders. This position will also work closely with the senior director and director of alumni belonging programs to guide the development of new affinity group communities.

The Alumni Belonging Pillar builds and supports an ecosystem of communities based on identity, affinity, and shared interests that speak to the multiplicity and intersectionality of the alumni community’s lived experiences, interests, and needs. The team nurtures and grows a culture of belonging for alumni and their parents, family, and friends by promoting the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion, in all areas of alumni engagement programming.

Brown University is committed to advancing diversity, inclusion, and equity and is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer.
