Responsibilities:
We seek to fill an opening for an Assistant Director, Coordinator for Rural Recruitment in the Office of Undergraduate Admission. This individual will be responsible for leading rural recruitment and matriculation efforts within the Office of College Admission. Rural recruitment outreach activities include the design and execution of rural student specific programming and partnering with the Dean of Admission as the liaison to the STARS College Network; update the rural student webpage and communications, and continue to build an increased annual presence of students from rural areas and small town in the applicant pool and enrolling classes.
This is a three year, fixed-term position with an end date of 10/31/2027.
Assistant Directors are responsible for the following:
- Read and evaluate applications for admission.
- Serve as voting members of the Board of Admission during the selection process
- Develop regional recruitment strategies.
- Conduct group information sessions for prospective students and families.
- Represent the university at schools and college fairs during travel to assigned geographic territories and alumni and other recruitment events.
- Assistant Directors are responsible for assisting with and at times leading special projects and providing recommendations and professional support to Associate Directors.
- Rural recruitment outreach activities include recruiting rural students to apply and matriculate to Brown University.
- Design and execute rural student specific programming and partner with the Dean of Admission as the liaison to the STARS College Network.
- Help meet targeted enrollment numbers for rural students; work to update the rural student webpage and continue to build an increased annual presence of students from rural and small town areas in our application pool.
- Attend monthly meetings and partner with other universities to execute virtual and in-person outreach programs for high school students and counselors.
- Partner with the Office of College Admission Communications Team to update the Rural student admission webpage and communication plans designed for students from rural places and small towns.
- Work closely with Rural Students at Brown to support recruitment efforts.
- Mentor admission staff on strategies for the recruitment of rural students in their individual outreach activities.
- Plan, implement and staff on-campus fly-in programs for students and counselors, including collaboration with admission officers and campus departments.
- Reporting and data analysis in coordination with the Systems Team.
- Work with travel grant team to include rural students in admitted student fly-in programs.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience
- Required: Bachelor’s Degree
- Required: 4 years of experience in education/higher education fields, preferably college admission experience at a highly selective institution
