Job Description:
This position provides essential services and support to the rodent health and colony management program, veterinary technicians and veterinarians within the Center for Animal Resources and Education at Brown University. These may include but are not limited to:
Other routine and ad hoc compliance and regulatory matters as directed: Perform census, appropriately label chemicals, assist with paperwork related to compliance documentation.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- Required: Associate’s Degree in a related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1-2 years of experience as a lab technician, veterinary assistant, or similar position in a research or veterinary clinic environment with direct related experience with research animals.
- Preferred: AALAS certification (ALAT, LAT or LATG) or Veterinary Assistant certificate from a NAVTA/AVA approved program.
Job Competencies
- Ability to recognize normal and abnormal behavior in a variety of animal species.
- Good attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all levels of University personnel.
- Basic computer skills.
- Possesses a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive campus community.
- The ability to adapt to changes that occur with short notice.
Education and Criminal background check required.
