Job Description:
Brown University Athletics and Recreation is currently seeking candidates for the part-time Racquet Court Attendant position. Located in Providence, Rhode Island, and a member of the Ivy League, our intercollegiate athletics program consists of 34 varsity teams with approximately 1,000 athletes who participate within the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA-D1).
The Racquet Court Attendant position is responsible for the daily operation and monitoring of Brown’s indoor tennis courts and squash courts. The responsibilities of the attendant include greeting customers, managing and monitoring court reservations, handling court reservation payments and processing, customer communication, and general upkeep and maintenance of the facilities. All candidates must be able to provide great customer service to all guests, including students, staff, faculty, varsity student-athletes, varsity coaches and Brown Community recreation members. Candidates must also be able to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to multitask and problem solve under pressure while still maintaining great customer service.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma/GED.
- Some prior technology experience (reservation systems, Innosoft Fusion (or similar)), preferred.
- Prior experience in customer service, helpful.
Job Competencies
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively with the Brown community.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Exceptional customer service and conflict resolution skills.
- Prior experience with a racquet facility, preferred.
- Experience with Excel, Word and Google Suite, preferred.
- Public relations skills, preferred.
- Possess a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive environment.
- Understanding of, and commitment to compliance with, NCAA, ECAC, Ivy and University rules and regulations in regard to operations.
- The successful candidate for this position will be required to complete a criminal background check satisfactory to Brown University prior to commencing employment.
All division employees are required to demonstrate exemplary ethical conduct and conformance to NCAA rules and regulations; the duties of the position are to be performed in compliance with all NCAA, Ivy League rules and regulations; and any rules violations on behalf of themselves or any knowledge of violations within the division are to be reported to the compliance office and appropriate parties. Employees in coaching positions must receive annual rules education on NCAA legislation related to recruiting by the compliance office and maintain current AED/CPR and First Aid certification (certification is available at no cost through the Division).
