Penn Law Takes Steps to End DEI-Related Programs

As colleges and universities across the country grapple with President Trump’s executive order to end diversity, equity, and inclusion policies and programs in higher education, the Carey Law School at the University of Pennsylvania is the latest institution to fall in line.

According to Philly VoicePenn Law has closed its Office of Equal Opportunity and Engagement, which provided resources, training, and DEI-related services for students and faculty. Furthermore, the law school’s website states they are not accepting applicants for the Sadie T. M. Alexander Scholarship for the upcoming 2025-2026 academic year. Named for the first Black woman to graduate from Penn Law, the scholarship provided full tuition to students who planned to focus their studies and future law practice on racial justice. The program was first created in 2021 with support from the Black Law Students Association.
