Douglas LaVergne has been appointed interim dean of the College of Agricultural, Life and Natural Sciences at historically Black Alabama A&M University.
With an extensive background in agricultural education, extension, teaching, and academic administration, Dr. LaVergne currently serves as Alabama A&M University’s associate vice president for academic affairs and undergraduate studies. Before his current role, he was a professor, dean of the College of Agriculture, Environmental, and Human Sciences, and vice president for land-grant engagement at historically Black Lincoln University of Missouri. Earlier in his career, he was a professor and associate dean at East Texas A&M University.
Dr. LaVergne holds a bachelor’s degree in secondary education with a concentration in agricultural education from Southern University and A&M College in Louisiana, a master’s degree in agricultural and extension education from the University of Arkansas, and a Ph.D. in agricultural education from Texas A&M University.
