Julius Edwards Named President of Eastern Maine Community College

Beginning April 1, Julius Edwards is slated to serve as the next president of Eastern Maine Community College. Located in Bangor, Maine, the college enrolls over 2,700 students, 2 percent of whom are Black.

Dr. Edwards comes to his new role from Ivy Tech Community College in Indiana, where he has served in a number of key leadership positions, most recently as vice chancellor of academic affairs. His background includes experience in academic program development, transfer pathways, financial administration, and work-aligned education. In addition to teaching as an adjunct business instructor, Dr. Edwards has overseen programs in agriculture, advanced automation and robotics, supply chain management, culinary arts, and commercial driving.

Dr. Edwards is a graduate of Indiana University-Purdue University in Indianapolis, where he majored in accounting and finance. He holds an MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University and a Ph.D. in higher education leadership from Indiana State University.
