The board of trustees of Olympic College in Bremerton, Washington, recently voted to extend a public offer to Chantae Recasner to serve as the college’s sixteenth president. According to the U.S. Department of Education, Olympic College enrolls roughly 5,800 undergraduate students, 4 percent of whom are Black.
With more than 20 years of experience in higher education, Dr. Recasner has served as both a tenured faculty member and a senior administrator at several institutions. She has been serving as interim president of Seattle Central College. Dr. Recasner joined Seattle Central in 2023 as vice president of instruction after serving as the equity research manager for Western Governors University. Earlier, she was dean of academic success at Northeast Lakeview College in Texas.
Dr. Recasner is a graduate of Loyola University New Orleans, where she majored in English. She holds three master’s degrees from Ohio State University in teaching and learning, African and African American studies, and business operational excellence. Dr. Rescaner received her Ph.D. in education from the University of Cincinnati.
