
Born in Manassas, Virginia, Professor McCoy graduated from Bishop McDevitt High School in Philadelphia. An alumna of two historically Black universities, she earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting with a minor in mathematics from Hampton University in Virginia and an MBA with a concentration in decision science and information systems from Clark Atlanta University.
After a series of roles with JP Morgan Chase, Enterprise Capital Management, and IBM, Professor McCoy began her career in academia at Alabama A&M University. In 2006, she returned to Clark Atlanta University as a lecturer in accounting. She later joined the HBCU’s department of decision sciences, where she became the faculty lead for the minor program in business analytics. In addition to teaching, Professor McCoy was an advisor for the Battle of the Brains competition and the National Black MBA Case Competition.
In honor of Professor McCoy’s legacy, Clark Atlanta University has established the Renee McCoy Tribute Scholarship Fund to support undergraduate and graduate students in the School of Business.
