
Dr. LeGrande became the ninth president of Prairie View A&M University in June 2023. Under her leadership, the HBCU launched PV Cares, a comprehensive student success model that connects students with a dedicated CARE team that includes an academic advisor, financial advisor, and career coach. Dr. LeGrande also led the development of a new strategic plan, “Journey to Eminence: 2035,” which establishes a framework for advancing operational effectiveness, teaching and academic relevance, student success, research and innovation, and partnerships and engagement.
Before her presidency, Dr. LeGrande spent five years as vice provost for strategic enrollment management at Virginia Commonwealth University. Prior to that role, she was vice president for strategic enrollment management at the University of Houston-Downtown. She has also worked for two North Carolina-based HBCUs: North Carolina A&T State University and Winston-Salem State University.
Dr. LeGrande is a graduate of Savannah State University in Georgia, where she majored in chemistry. She holds a master’s degree in chemistry from North Carolina A&T State University and a doctorate in higher education administration from Texas Tech University.
