Columbia Mailman School Seeks Black Faculty for National Study on Experiences in Higher Education

Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health

NEW YORK, NY, October 7, 2026: The Spatial Epidemiology Lab at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health invites Black faculty nationwide to take part in the Black Professors Study (BPS), a research study examining the opportunities, challenges, and lived experiences of Black professors in academia. Findings will help inform future research, institutional policies, and efforts to advance equity, inclusion, and faculty well-being.

“BPS isn’t just research–it’s a call to dismantle these barriers, obstacles, and to foster equitable academia environments for all,” said Dr. Dustin Duncan, Associate Dean for Health Equity and Professor of Epidemiology at Columbia University.

Participation takes about 20 to 30 minutes and includes a brief eligibility screener, electronic consent, and an online survey. Participants who complete the survey will be entered into a raffle for one of several $50 gift cards.
