National Park Service Awards $10.7 Million in Grants to Eleven HBCUs

The National Park Service (NPS) has awarded $10.7 million in grant funding to support the preservation and stabilization of historic sites on HBCU campuses.

The grants come from fiscal year 2025 appropriations from the Historic Preservation Fund, which invests in communities nationwide to safeguard cultural resources, strengthen local economies, and ensure that more Americans see their history represented.

“Preserving our nation’s history is about honoring the people, events and cultures that shaped who we are,” said Jessica Bowron, NPS Comptroller exercising the delegate authority of the Director. “These grants empower communities to tell their stories, celebrate their heritage and ensure that future generations can connect with the past in meaningful ways.”
