After 18 Years, Michael L. Jackson Stepping Down From Student Affairs Post at USC

Jackson1Michael L. Jackson, vice president for student affairs at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, has announced that he will step down from his post at the end of the academic year. He has served as vice president for student affairs for the past 18 years. Before coming to USC, he was dean of students at Stanford University.

In a letter to the university community, President C.L. Max Nikias wrote, “Dr. Jackson has served in this key leadership role with tremendous distinction. He has touched countless students with his vision and compassion, and I know the entire USC community joins me in commending his outstanding service.”

After taking a one-year sabbatical, Dr. Jackson will return to USC as vice president emeritus and executive director of institutional advancement. He will also serve as professor in the university’s Rossier School of Education.

Dr. Jackson is a graduate of Stanford University, where he majored in anthropology. He holds a master’s degree and an educational doctorate from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
