Adriel A. Hilton, assistant vice president for inclusion initiatives at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan, received the 2013 Joseph H. Silver, Sr. Leadership and Mentoring Institute Award from the American Association of Blacks in Higher Education at the recent annual meeting held in Atlanta.
Dr. Hilton is a graduate of Morehouse College. He holds a master’s degree from Florida A&M University and a doctorate from Morgan State University.
Deneese Jones, provost at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, was selected as the recipient of the Chancellor’s Alumni Excellence Award from Texas Woman’s University. Dr. Jones is a 1974 alumna of Texas Woman’s University and holds a master’s degree and a doctorate in education from Texas A&M University.
Prior to being named provost at Drake last year, Dr. Jones was dean of the College of Education and Human Services at Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia.
