Team From North Carolina A&T State University Wins the ACC Clean Energy Challenge

accnrg_logoA team from North Carolina A&T State University, the historically Black educational institution in Greensboro, won the second annual ACC Clean Energy Challenge, held earlier this month at North Carolina State University in Raleigh. The team developed a bio-based adhesive from swine manure for potential use as a substitute for petroleum-based asphalt binder.

The effort won the university the $100,000 top prize. The team from North Carolina A&T now advances to the Department of Energy’s National Clean Energy Business Plan Finals, that will be held in Washington this June. At the national event, the tam from North Carolina A&T will face off against with the winners of five other regional competitions.
