Stanford Graduate School of Business has announced the establishment of its first Africa MBA fellowship. The program was established to create opportunities for African citizens committed to the continent’s development to pursue an MBA degree at Stanford University in California.
Under the program up to eight African students each year will chosen to receive the fellowships. Each fellow will receive up to $140,000 over two years to cover tuition and other expenses. Fellows must agree to return to Africa within two years of graduating from the Stanford business school and work for a business, government agency, or nonprofit organization for a least two consecutive years.
Garth Saloner, dean of the Graduate School of Business at Stanford, stated, “We are committed to supporting the education of promising high-potential leaders who will make a difference in the continent’s future. Moreover, African students in our program provide direct insight into an emerging global economy that is increasingly powerful in business.”
