Two New Deans at Florida A&M University

Florida A&M University in Tallahassee has announced the appointment of two men to dean positions.

EdingtonMaurice D. Edington was appointed dean of the College of Science and Technology. He has served in the post on an interim basis since last July. Dr. Edington joined the faculty at Florida A&M in 1998 as an assistant professor of chemistry. He chaired the chemistry department from 2002 to 2008. From 2008 to 2012, he was director of the Quality Enhancement Program at the university.

Dr. Edington is a 1992 graduate of Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee. He earned a Ph.D. in chemistry at Vanderbilt University.

Dr. IbeanusiVictor M. Ibeanusi was named dean of the School of the Environment. He has been serving as chair of the environmental science and studies program at Spelman College in Atlanta. He has served on the Spelman College faculty since 1991. Previously, he worked for both the World Health Organization and the United Nations.

Dr. Ibeanusi holds bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in biology from Atlanta University.
