Robin Givens to Teach at Miles College

Miles College, the historically black educational institution near Birmingham, Alabama, has announced the actress Robin Givens will serve as an artist-in-residence beginning in January. Givens will teach classes in the theater department and leading workshops on acting. Givens starred in the 1980s television sitcom Head of the Class and has appeared in several films including Boomerang and the Family That Preys.

Givens enrolled at Sarah Lawrence College at the age of 15 but left school to pursue her acting career.

In Memoriam: William Strickland, 1937-2024

Strickland spent his lifetime dedicated to advancing civil rights and Black political representation. For four decades, he served as a professor of political science at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he taught courses on Black history and the civil rights movement.
