Two HBCUs Launch New Journals

Fayetteville State University in North Carolina has announced the launching of the Journal of Research Initiatives. The open access journal began accepting manuscripts in April and the first issue is scheduled to be published this month. The peer-reviewed journal will publish articles on current educational issues.

Wilson-Jones_website_pic[1]The editor-in-chief of the new journal is Linda Wilson-Jones. Dr. Wilson-Jones serves as Director of the Office of Research Initiatives in the School of Education and is chair of the Faculty Senate.

Dr. Wilson-Jones holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology and social work and a master’s degree from Mississippi State University. She holds a doctorate in educational administration and supervision from Jackson State University in Mississippi.

jackie_jonesMorgan State University’s School of Global Journalism and Communication has debuted the Morgan Global Journalism Review. The journal is a quarterly online publication that examines media, communication, and information technology with a focus on the international scene.

The director of the project is Jackie Jones, chair of the department of multimedia journalism at Morgan State University. She is graduate of George Washington University and a former editor at the Washington Post.
