Appointments and Promotions of African Americans in Higher Education

Marion Hambrick was promoted to assistant professor of sports administration in the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Louisville. He was an instructor in the department.

Dr. Hambrick is a graduate of Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky. He holds an MBA from the University of Kentucky and a doctorate in educational leadership and organizational development from the University of Louisville.

Carolyn Nobles was named associate administrator for the College of Agriculture and Human Sciences at Prairie View A&M University in Texas. She was interim associate administrator for the university’s Cooperative Extension program.

Dr. Nobles holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Prairie View A&M. She earned a doctorate in agricultural education from Texas A&M University.

Thomas J. Haynes was appointed vice president of university relations at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee. He was vice president for institutional advancement at Coppin State University. He worked at Florida A&M in various positions from 1977-2003.

Dr. Haynes is a graduate of Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina. He holds a master’s degree from Florida A&M and a doctorate in educational leadership from Florida State University.

Floyd Griffin was named to the board of trustees of Tuskegee University in Alabama. He is a former Georgia state senator and the former mayor of Milledgeville, Georgia. Griffin has taught at Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem State University, and at the Georgia College and State University School of Business.

Griffin is a graduate of Tuskegee University and holds a master’s degree from the Florida Institute of Technology.

June Carter Perry was named the Cyrus Vance Visiting Professor of International Relations at Mount Holyoke College. She has served as U.S. ambassador to both Sierra Leone and Lesotho.
