Grambling State University President to Step Down on June 30

Dr PogueFrank G. Pogue, president of Grambling State University in Louisiana, has announced that he will resign as president on June 30. Dr. Pogue was named interim president of the university on December 15, 2009, and was elevated to the job on a permanent basis in July 2010.

From 1996 to 2007, Dr. Pogue was president of Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and then served as interim president of Chicago State University before coming to Grambling. Earlier in his career, Dr. Pogue was vice chancellor for student affairs and special programs at the State University of New York, vice president for student affairs at the University at Albany, and senior medical research associate at Meharry Medical College in Nashville.

Dr. Pogue is a graduate of Alabama State University in Montgomery. He holds a master’s degree from Atlanta University and a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Pittsburgh.

After completing his tenure at Grambling State University, President Pogue plans to return to his home in Delaware and will participate in academic consulting work.
