Joseph S. Francisco was chosen as the next dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. He will take on his new duties on July 1. Currently, Dr. Francisco is the William E. Moore Distinguished Professor of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences and Chemistry at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.
From 2010 to 2013, Dr. Francisco served as associate dean for research in the College of Science at Purdue. Dr. Francisco is the former president of the American Chemical Society and former head of the National Organization of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers.
Professor Francisco is a graduate of the University of Texas. He earned a Ph.D. in chemical physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is the co-author of the textbook Chemical Kinetics and Dynamics (Prentice-Hall).
