A Record Number of African American Graduates at Louisiana State University

lsulogoAt the spring commencement ceremonies at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, a record number of 3,953 students received a degree. For the entire year, 6,387 students earned degrees, also a record.

Among this group of 6,387 students in the Class of 2014 are 570 African Americans. This is the largest number of African American degree earners of any class in university history. The previous high was 516 in the Class of 2013. The new record is a 10.5 percent increase from the old record, set just a year ago.

In Memoriam: William Strickland, 1937-2024
