Kenneth B. Chance Sr. will be the next dean of the School of Dental Medicine at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. His appointment is effective July 1. Dr. Chance will be the first African American to serve as dean.
Dr. Chance has been serving as a professor and chief of endodontics at the University of Kentucky. He has served as a member of the board of trustees of Case Western Reserve University since 2005. He will give up his board seat when he joins the faculty. Earlier in his career, Dr. Chance served on the faculty at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and was dean of the School of Dentistry at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee.
Dr. Chance is a graduate of Fordham University in The Bronx, New York. He earned his doctorate in dentistry at Case Western Reserve University.
