Jackson State University in Mississippi has announced plans to establish the School of Journalism and Mass Communications on the historically Black university campus. Eric D. Stringfellow will serve as interim director of the new school. He has been serving as executive director for university communications and will continue in that role. Stringfellow is an award-winning journalist and was the founding chair of the department of mass communication at Tougaloo College in Mississippi.
The university announced that it will recruit four new faculty members for the new school. All classes that were scheduled in the old department of mass communications at Jackson State will be taught this fall.
