Lester B. Brown, former college faculty member and administrator, has died in Miami, Florida. He was 85 years old.
Over the course of a long career in the academic world, Dr. Brown served as the inaugural chair of the department of chemistry at Albany State University in Georgia. From 1975 to 1978, he served as dean of academic affairs, executive vice president, and then president of Voorhees College in Denmark, South Carolina.
Dr. Brown taught at Miami Dade College’s North Campus from 1980 to 2003 and later was dean and acting president of Florida Memorial University in Miami Gardens.
I am Thelma Chance, and was taught under the leadership of Dr. Brown, at Miami Dade Community College in 2001. And was his and wife MaryKay Consultant. I just found out today he pass away. After talking to my brother who came home from Miami to visit our Mother told me Dr. Brown has pass away. However, I move back to my home town July 28, 2006, And saw him one time after come back to visit in Miami.
