For the Fifth Year in a Row, Delaware State University Reports Record Enrollments

delaware-state-logoIn an era when many historically Black colleges and universities have seen a drop in enrollments, Delaware State University in Dover reports records enrollments. In fact, Delaware State has posted a new record enrollment for the each of the past five years.

This fall there are 4,644 students on campus, up from last’s year record of 4,505. There are 894 first-year students on campus this fall. The 4,259 undergraduates students on campus is also a new record.

Harry L. Williams, president of Delaware State University, reported that new first-year students had an average high school grade point average of 3.08, the highest in university history. “That makes the record enrollment particularly satisfying,” President Williams said. “As the student population continues to increase, the academic quality of our new freshmen continues to rise as well.”
