Gary Clark, an associate professor and chair of the department of political science has been named the inaugural director of the new Center for Law and Public Interest at Dillard University in New Orleans. The new center will focus on pre-law training for students interested in the legal profession.
Dillard University President Walter Kimbrough said that “there are hundreds of Dillard graduates in either law, in legislative, and who advocate for social justice in their professions, so it just made sense for Dillard to strengthen its dominance in these areas through the work of the center.
Yolanda Page, vice president for academic affairs, added that “as we began developing our strategic plan and looking at the areas in which we excelled it became clear that preparing individuals for civil service and law professions was a niche that we had yet to publicly claim and promote.”
