Three African American Scholars Named to Dean Positions

Gina S. Brown was appointed dean of the College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences at Howard University in Washington, D.C. She was an associate professor at Loma Linda University in California and served as academic administrator for Atlantic Union College in Lancaster, Massachusetts.

Dr. Brown is a graduate of Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama. She holds a master’s degree in health services administration from Central Michigan University and a Ph.D. in nursing administration from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia.

Donald R. Easton-Brooks was appointed dean of the School of Education at the University of South Dakota. For the past two years, he has been a professor and dean of the College of Business and Education at Eastern Oregon University in La Grande. Earlier in his career, Dr. Easton-Brooks served on the faculties at the University of North Texas and Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Dr. Easton-Brooks is a graduate of Greenville College in Illinois. He holds a master’s degree and a doctorate in educational leadership and innovation from the University of Colorado at Denver.

Wyrick

Cheryl Wyrick was named interim dean of the College of Business Administration at California State Polytechnic University in Pomona. She has been serving as associate dean of the College of Business Administration and professor in the management and human resources department at the university.

Professor Wyrick began teaching at the university as an adjunct lecturer in 1986 and joined the tenure-track faculty at the university in 1994.
