In Memoriam: Pearlie Craft Dove

DoveBookPearlie Craft Dove, a longtime faculty member at Clark Atlanta University died in her home on August 18. A native of Atlanta, Dr. Dove attended what was then Clark College and graduated in 1941. She went on to earn a master’s degree at Atlanta University and an educational doctorate from the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Dr. Dove joined the faculty at Clark College in 1949 and remained on the faculty at what became Clark Atlanta University for 36 years. She retired in 1986 as a Distinguished Professor of Higher Education. Dr. Dove was awarded professor emerita status in 1993.

A collection of essays and other works by Professor Dove entitled Pearls of Wisdom from a Woman of Color, Courage and Commitment was published earlier this year. Her papers are housed in the Manuscript, Archives, and Rare Book Library at Emory University in Atlanta.
