Claflin University Establishes Partnership With Savannah River Nuclear Solutions

Claflin_LogoClaflin University, the historically Black educational institution in Orangeburg, South Carolina, has entered into a partnership with Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, which is responsible for operating the U.S. Department of Energy’s Savannah River National Laboratory near Aiken, South Carolina.

Under the agreement, 10 students at Claflin will receive scholarships from Savannah River Nuclear Solutions. In addition, there will be research collaborations between the company and the university’s School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and internship opportunities with the company for Claflin students.

Henry N. Tisdale, president of Claflin University, stated that “this partnership is important because it supports scholarships and provides internships that will prepare students for the workforce after graduation.”
