Student-Run Record Label Established at Bethune-Cookman University

HBCURecordsBethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach, Florida, recently launched a student-run record label. HBCU Records recently signed two university students to be the first artists associated with the new label. Both have recorded songs and have produced music videos for the new record company.

  • L. Paul Jackson Jr. is an R&B artist who makes contemporary gospel music. His first single, which he co-wrote, is called “Champion.”
  • DJ DGlove is a hip-hop performer. An Army war veteran, his first single on the new label is called “Good Time.”

The new record label was formed by the Mike Curb Music Business, Entertainment Institute at the university. Mike Curb, the legendary record company mogul and NASCAR owner, provided the endowment for university to create the Curb Institute.
