Four African Americans Named to Dean Posts at Colleges and Universities

Francine ConwayFrancine Conway was appointed dean of the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Since 2008, Dr. Conway has been chair of the psychology program at Adelphi University in Garden City, New York. Her research is focused on the psychology of aging and on child psychopathology.

Dr. Conway is a graduate of Cornell University. She earned a master’s degree at Columbia University and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Adelphi University.

burll-mcraeKarlene Burrell-McRae was appointed dean of the college at Colby College in Waterville, Maine. She has been serving as associate dean of students and executive director of the Center for Identity and Inclusion at the University of Chicago. She has been a member of the board of trustees of Colby College since 2014.

Dr. Burrell-McRae is a 1994 graduate of Colby College. She holds two master’s degrees and a doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania.

bradleeyDeMethra LaSha Bradley was named dean of students and assistant vice president for student affairs at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota. She has been serving as assistant dean for academic and student affairs at the University of Vermont.

Dr. Bradley is a graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara. She earned a master’s degree and an educational doctorate from the University of Vermont.

PowellL_FinalLogan Powell was appointed dean of admission at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. He has been serving as director of admission at Princeton University in New Jersey.

Powell is a graduate of Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. He earned a master’s degree in education from Harvard University.
