Endowed Scholarship Fund at Jackson State Honors Former Political Science Professor

Charles-HolmesJackson State University in Mississippi has created an endowed scholarship fund in honor of Charles Holmes, the former professor and chair of the department of political science in the College of Liberal Arts at the university. The scholarship program has been partially funded by Professor Holmes.

At a ceremony announcing the scholarships, Evelyn Leggette, provost and senior vice president for academic affairs told Professor Holmes “we appreciate your providing scholarships for students, for you thinking about someone beyond yourself.”

Professor Holmes stated that “throughout the years, I advised students from across the campus and beyond. Those are some of the most satisfying experiences of my professional career. This endowed scholarship will enable many more students to pursue law or graduate school in the future.”

Professor Holmes served on the faculty at Jackson State University from 1966 to 1993.
