Shaw University, the historically Black university in Raleigh, North Carolina, has reported encouraging news on enrollments for the upcoming fall. The university reports its has received a record number of applications from prospective students. Applications are up 74 percent from last year. The university also reports that at this time, the number of confirmed new students is up 145 percent from a year ago. This includes an expected 10 percent increase in international students.
Anthony Brooks, chief enrollment officer at Shaw University, said that “we have a plan, and we’re successfully executing that plan. We have been strategic, and deliberate about targeting young bright scholars and letting them know what Shaw has to offer over other institutions.”
Shaw University President Tashni-Ann Dubroy adds that “I am not at all surprised by these epic results. As competitive as the higher education arena is right now, we knew we had to do something different in order for students to distinguish Shaw as their college of choice.”
