Dillard University, the historically Black educational institution in New Orleans, recently signed a five-year partnership agreement with the U.S. Army Research Laboratory. The Cooperative Research and Development Agreement will provide funding and other resources for student research during the summer months, as well during the regular academic year.
Among other projects, students will be conducting research on pulsed lasers and the fabrication of thin films for optical, chemical, biosensors, and other nanotechnology applications.
Abdalla Darwish, Presidential Professor at Dillard University, stated that the new partnership “will open the doors to greater opportunities for more training for our physics and pre-engineering students and provide them with the skills they need for graduate school and beyond.”
