Four African Americans in New Administrative Post at Historically Black Universities

Dr. GavinKirk E. Gavin was named interim superintendent of the Developmental Research School at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee. The school enrolls nearly 1,000 students in grades K-12. Dr. Gavin is the former assistant dean of general studies, director of faculty development, and interim assistant vice president of academic affairs at Florida A&M University.

Dr. Gavin holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in education from Florida A&M University. He earned a doctoral degree in educational leadership from Nova Southeastern University.

Micheal_Trusclair_resizedMichael C. Trusclair was named the U.S. Department of Agriculture/Natural Resources Conversation Service 1890 Liaison at Alcorn State University in Mississippi. He is the former instructional specialist at the USDA/NRCS National Employee Development Center in Fort Worth, Texas.

Trusclair holds a bachelor’s degree in agricultural education from Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

MartinBrint M. Martin was promoted to director of alumni affairs at Hampton University in Virginia. She has served as assistant director of alumni affairs and director of athletic marketing at the university.

Martin holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing and a master’s degree in business administration from Hampton University.

Caples-WelcomeGwendolyn Caples is the new assistant vice president for institutional advancement at Jackson State University in Mississippi. She has served as director of the Welcome Center and director of alumni and community relations at the university.

Caples is a graduate of Jackson State University, where she majored in political science. She earned a master’s degree at Mississippi College.
