Under the agreement, students who earn associate’s degrees at Lone Star College will be helped in transferring to Texas Southern University and will be provided with academic counseling. Texas Southern will accept a minimum of 60 credit hours that may be applied to requirements for a bachelor’s degree.
Students who earn credits at Texas Southern University but leave school, will be able to use those credits to obtain an associate’s degree at a campus of Lone Star College.
Austin Lane, the new president of Texas Southern University, stated that “Lone Star students are the population that we want to attract to Texas Southern. We are going to work in an aggressive manner and ensure that interested students know how to get from the community college system into a direct track that ends in a bachelor’s degree.”
