

Flournoy’s novel was chosen from 162 entries. She will receive a cash prize and will participate in a reading and a roundtable discussion about the book at Virginia Commonwealth University. The novel also has been chosen as a finalist for the National Book Award.
Flournoy has taught at the University of Iowa, The New School, and Columbia University. She is a graduate of the University of Southern California in Los Angeles and holds a master’s degree from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop at the University of Iowa.
