New Administrative Posts for Five African Americans in Higher Education

kathytimesKathy Y. Times was appointed executive associate director of the Office of Communication at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee. She is the founder and the president of Yellow Brick Media Concepts, a public relations firm. Earlier in her career, she was an Emmy Award-winning television journalist in Jackson, Mississippi.

Times is a graduate of Florida A&M University, where she majored in computer information systems and journalism. She earned a master’s degree in journalism at Northwestern University.

Adriel A. Hilton was named director of the Myrtle Beach Metropolitan extended campus of Webster University in South Carolina. Dr. Hilton has been serving as chief of staff and executive assistant to the president of Grambling State University in Louisiana.

Dr. Hilton is a graduate of Morehouse College in Atlanta, where he majored in business administration. He holds a master’s degree in applied social science from Florida A&M University and a Ph.D. in higher education administration from Morgan State University in Baltimore.

lawrenceUlicia Lawrence-Oladeinde was named director of the Pan-African Studies Community Education Program at Temple University in Philadelphia. The program offers GED classes and professional development courses. Lawrence-Oladeinde has worked at the university’s Center for Social Policy and Community Development for several years.

Lawrence-Oladeinde holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Temple University.

edwarad-scott-adEdward Scott was appointed director of intercollegiate athletics at Morgan State University in Baltimore. He was the senior associate director of athletics at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Earlier he held a similar post at Binghamton University of the State University of New York System.

Scott is a graduate of the University at Albany of the State University of New York System. There he majored in psychology and captained the university’s baseball team. He also holds a master’s degree in educational administration and policy studies from the University at Albany.

jessie-brooksJessie Brooks was selected as the next vice president of institutional advancement at Spelman College in Atlanta. He will take office on November 7. He was the senior director of development for the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California, San Diego.

Earlier in his career, Brooks held fundraising posts at the University of Washington and San Diego State University. He holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of New Mexico.
