Brian Bridges to Lead the UNCF’s Frederick D. Patterson Research Institute

Brian Bridges, vice provost for diversity, access, and equity at Ohio University in Athens, has accepted an offer to become executive director of the Frederick D. Patterson Research Institute of the United Negro College Fund. The appointment is effective on March 5.

Bridges joined the Ohio University administration in 2009. Previously he served as associate director of the American Council on Education’s Center for Advancement of Racial and Ethnic Equity in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Bridges is a graduate of Francis Marion University in Florence, South Carolina. He holds a master of public administration degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and an educational doctorate from Indiana University.

In his new post, Bridges will be the UNCF’s chief research officer and serve as editor for the organization’s publications.
