New Administrative Roles for Four African Americans in Higher Education

patrick_johnson_2012newsitePatrick Harold Johnson was appointed senior vice president for institutional advancement at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee. He was serving as a senior consultant at Campbell & Company.

From 2007 to 2012, Johnson was senior associate vice president for institutional advancement at Meharry. He is a graduate of Fisk University in Nashville.

delalueShontay Delalue was promoted to assistant provost for global engagement at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. Dr. Delalue joined the university in 2013 and had been serving as an associate dean of the college. She is also the director of the Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship program.

Dr. Delalue holds a bachelor’s degree in communication and a master’s degree from the University of Maine. She earned a Ph.D. in education from the University of Rhode Island/Rhode Island College.

huettKenneth Huewitt was appointed vice president of finance and administration and chief financial officer at Texas Southern University in Houston. He is the former chief financial officer of the Houston Independent School District.

Huewitt is a graduate of Texas State University, where he majored in accounting.

Barry L. Wells, special assistant to the chancellor at Syracuse University in New York, was given the added duties of co-chair of the Council on Diversity and Inclusion at the university.

From 1995 to 2008, Wells was senior vice president and dean of student affairs at Syracuse. Wells first joined the staff at Syracuse University in 1976 as director of the Office of Minority Affairs.
