The New Dean of the School of Health Professions at the New York Institute of Technology

Sheldon D. Fields is the new dean of the School of Health Professions at the New York Institute of Technology in Old Westbury, New York. The school enrolls nearly 800 students in five allied health degree programs.

Prior to joining NYIT, Dr. Fields served as chief wellness officer, dean, and professor in the Mervyn M. Dymally School of Nursing at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science in Los Angeles, California. From 2011 to 2015, he was assistant dean of clinical affairs and health policy, associate professor of nursing, and co-director of the doctor of nursing practice program in the Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing & Health Sciences at Florida International University in Miami.

Dr. Fields holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Binghamton University of the State University of New York System. He earned a Ph.D. in nursing science from the University of Pennsylvania.
